Strange times, these are.

I recently watched a special report on CNBC’s “The Exchange”. And it was about how the pandemic is affecting the US housing market.

A few interesting insights:

According to the Aspen Institute, 23 million American renters — that’s one in five — are at risk of being evicted. Unless we see another “Black Swan” event in the next few months, evictions are set to hit crisis levels.

Scary stuff.

But then…

Homebuying is UP in most areas across the United States, especially in the Sun Belt. Partly because of pent-up demand. Partly because interest rates are low. But also because a lot of folks are seeking a lifestyle change.

For many, this pandemic has been a wakeup call.

They’re done with the city. They want a larger home, in a quieter neighborhood, where they can enjoy a yard and outdoor space, a laundry room, and a patio on which to host barbeques. And they want it now.

For this reason, Ryan Schneider, CEO of Realogy Holdings Corp. says his company has written up a LOT of solid business over the last few months.

It sounds like they’re really cleaning up.

Anyway, I don’t know about you, but there’s one thing I’ve taken away from all of this. It’s the same message I keep hearing from a lot of real estate pros.

This pandemic is a mixed bag.

For some folks, it has been catastrophic.

Others are running outside with buckets, ready to catch the falling rain.

Do you get what I’m saying?

So, don’t buy into all the media doom and gloom. There are a lot of realtors, agents, and brokers making out like bandits and getting rich through all this. And there’s absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t be one of them.

Houses are being sold. Houses are being bought.

New leases are being written up.

If you’re not seeing any of the action — if you’re not attracting enough deals and/or closing them — it could be that you need a new marketing edge.

Like a book.

Something tangible you can hand to potential clients. Something that sets you apart from all the other realtors, agents, and brokers hungry for their business. Something that gives you an edge, that gives you authority.

Our Speak-a-Book program can help you with that.
